Our Classes

Aerial Education Offerings

Series Classes

We offer 10-14 week sessions in fall, winter, and spring with a shorter 4 week session in summer. These sessions usually open for registration a month before the start date. Registration closes the week prior to the start date of the session.

10 Month Program *New!

We are introducing a 10 Month Program to our ADPDX studio offerings for the 2023/24 season. This option is ideal for students who want to commit to a longer duration of instruction that commences in a spring aerial dance performance in a theater setting. Students will remain in the same class from September through June, progressing through skills and strength with an additional focus on performance and stage presentation. Our regular Tuesday and Wednesday classes are switching over to this new 10 month program model. The 10 Month Program begins the week of September 3rd, 2023 and ends the week of June 2nd, 2024.

What to expect in class

All classes begin with a big hello and welcome, followed by a healthy warm-up. Our 15-minute grounded warm-up tends to be dance and fitness focused preparing the body for aerial. Our grounded warm-up then moves to the apparatus where students work foundational strength and conditioning skills. The lesson for the day might then include climbs, locks, inversions, or sequences. We end with a cool down to return the body back to its resting form.

Dress Code

Students are required to wear form-fitting clothing. Loose clothing is distracting when going upside down and it also leads to getting tied up in knots. Pants should go down past the knee and tops should be tight enough to stay put when they go upside down. We suggest leotards or biketards but this is not a requirement. Clothing with zippers, buttons, or snaps must be removed prior to going on apparatus as well as any jewelry.
